Born from A passion For great wine & good folk.
Founded and directed by Henry de Salengre, a hospitality veteran from the South West of England who later settled in Queenstown, South Pour was created from a deep appreciation for wine, people, and place.
Captivated by the mountain lifestyle of Central Otago and driven by a thirst for knowledge, Henry earned the flagship WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits in 2020, studying under mentor Jane Skilton.
Over the years, he honed his palate across the world through a dastardly array of dive bars, coffee bars, cocktail bars, restaurants, resorts, cellar doors, and wine retail. That journey ultimately culminated in orchestrating wine and beverage programmes for a groundbreaking multi-million-dollar hospitality precinct in Queenstown.
Then came the time to build something of his own.
Armed with years of experience and an uncompromising passion for hospitality, Henry joined forces with co-founder Blake Sinclair to establish South Pour in September 2025.
Following their nose and passion for people and place, the search began.
Their mission: to drive thousands of kilometres across Australia discovering the unknown — meeting producers, heading stories, cultivating relationships, understanding the land and only then, meticulously selecting the best modern Australian wines missing from New Zealand.
